How we review products
Our buying guides exist to save you from bad purchases. This is how we decide what earns a recommendation.

What we optimize for
We rank products for the reader’s outcome. The retailer’s margin never enters the scoring. Every roundup starts from the job the product is hired to do, then scores the options against consistent, published criteria.
Our criteria
- Efficacy & ingredients. Does it actually do the job? For supplements and functional products, we look at what’s inside, at what dose, and whether that’s supported by evidence.
- Quality & sourcing. Purity, testing, materials, and manufacturing standards.
- Value. Real cost per use over time, weighed against the sticker price.
- Experience. Taste, comfort, ease of use, and how likely you are to stick with it.
- Transparency. Does the brand tell you what you’re getting? Vague labels lose points.
How we handle products we own
Two products we cover are connected to our owners: Greco Gum and Winnow (see our full disclosure). We don’t pretend that away. Instead:
- An owned product is scored against the same criteria as every competitor.
- Where it wins, we show the reasoning; where it loses, we say so and recommend the better option for that need.
- We disclose the ownership tie near the top of the page and again at the product’s call-to-action.
Testing & updates
We combine hands-on use, ingredient and materials analysis, and the published evidence base. Markets change: formulations get reformulated, prices move, new options launch. So guides carry a “last updated” date and are revisited on a schedule.
No pay-for-placement
A brand cannot buy a ranking, a badge, or a kinder verdict. If that ever changed, this page would say so before you read another word.
